Tebogo Twala

Tebogo is the majority shareholder of Inmiso and part of our Executive Management Team. Tebogo has strong leadership skills and holds an LLB and BSc (Natural Science) degrees. Tebogo completed the Management Development Programme at the University of Pretoria and has a TRAFFIC/DEAT Certificate in Environmental Compliance and Enforcement. He is also an admitted Attorney of the High Court, Notary Public and Conveyancer.

Tebogo’s areas of expertise include Mining Law, Environmental Law, Authorisation/Permit Legal Compliance Auditing, occupational Health and Safety Law, Corporate/Commercial Law, Labour Law, Corporate Secretarial Services and General Litigation.

Tebogo played a pivotal role in major projects for Anglo American and Exxaro Matla Mine where he conducted a Minimum Permitting (Authorisations) Requirements Review and an Internal Authorisations Compliance Audit. He is a strategic thinker and an excellent risk management problem solver.

He is fluent in five African languages such as Northern Sotho, Tsonga, Setswana, English, and Afrikaans. His hobbies include farming, long distance running, mountain biking and going to the gym.

Robert Botha

Robert is the founding member of INMISO CONSULTING and the CEO and has over 25 years’ working experience in the mining legal environment. As part of the INMISO team, he represents a strong basis of experience and achievement in using the law to protect and advance the interest of blue-chip corporations at the highest level and in building and managing high-performance, technically superior legal teams. Other areas of expertise include management of legal operations, risk management and compliance, commercial mining law, arbitration (Local and International), labour law, community engagements as well as legal project management and product development.

Prior to establishing INMISO, he held several key legal and commercial positions including Business Development and Client Relationship Consultant at Hogan Lovells, Deputy Head of Legal at Anglo American, Head of Legal at Kumba Iron Ore and Legal Manager at Deloitte. He holds a BCom Law and BProc degree and is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He furthered his education by obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Labour law and completing the Anglo American Management Development Programme as well as receiving the Anglo American Global Achiever Award for leading the team that won one of the biggest commercial mining law case in South Africa.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, reading, and spending quality time with his family.

Anne Dunn

Anne has over 35 years communication and investor relations experience, having worked for companies across all sectors of the economy. Her expertise is in investor relations and financial, crisis and litigation communication, corporate communication, reputation management, employee, and community communications, and she has worked on transactions such as listings, mergers, acquisitions and disposals and business rescue projects. Anne provides executive media coaching and training/mentoring in several communication and investor related subjects. Her writing experience has covered Board reports, annual reports, corporate brochures, video scripts, presentation scripts, employee newsletters and media articles. She also conducts investor, media, and client perception surveys across different sectors.

Anne provides strategic counsel to our clients in the mining, property, healthcare, industrial, packaging, motor, transport, education, legal, building and constructions, retail, and financial services sectors, as well as working with industry organisations.

Anne worked as a Partner at Brunswick South Africa as a Senior Advisor. Prior to this, Anne worked for Anglo American as Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, PHB Billiton, Impala Platinum and Nampak. Anne has a BA Communications and MBL (Cum Laude) from Unisa. In her spare time, Anne is an ardent golfer and carer for the less privileged.

Johan Deetlefs

Johan is an experienced Finance professional with strong management experience across diverse disciplines and commodities including Tax, Sales and Marketing, Legal, Mining Technical Coal, Gold, Platinum and by-products (Palladium, Copper, Nickel, etc.) Driven by his passion for the Mining Industry, he takes pride in providing the best holistic solution possible. As a Corporate Finance Specialist with strong leadership skills, his goals include the maximization of people’s potential across cultural barriers, with emphasis on teamwork. In addition to his primary job functions, Johan has been recognized by Anglo American and received an Achiever Award for his extraordinary work on developing and implementing a bespoke strategy for Kumba Shipping Hong Kong Ltd on Contracts of Affreightment.

Johan's passion for people- and leadership development can be traced back to Asia, where he spent significant time working as the General Manager and Director of Kumba Hong Kong Ltd. As a Finance professional, he specializes in negotiations, strategic planning, implementation, operations control, Corporate Governance, market development, and joint ventures.

Johan has worked in the mining industry for 27 years, gaining experience in ocean born freight and port strategy, contracts of affreightment, marketing strategies that ensured optimal value for Anglo American Platinum , manages tax exposure, business development and negotiated, established, and implemented the first Anglo American Exploration Joint Venture in China for platinum. Outside of the office, Johan is involved with training individuals as Rangers/Naturalists, Fly-fishing and Fly-tying, music, and sailing.

Bronwynne Mouton

Bronwynne is an innovative and efficient attorney with strong analytical and strategical abilities. She has a Masters degree in Mercantile Law and is an admitted Attorney with Right of Appearance in the High Court. Bronwynne is a fierce litigator always looking out for her clients’ best interests. As INMISO’S Corporate specialist, Bronwynne specializes in Corporate Governance, Contractual law, Companies Law and Commercial Law.

Bronwynne focusses on the establishment and development of corporate structures as well as tailored, full service corporate and commercial legal solutions.

Bronwynne is a specialist in contract drafting, legal due diligence studies for listed companies, feasibility studies and preparation of opinions on all corporate and commercial matters. What distinguishes Bronwynne and INMISO from other legal service providers is our holistic and multi-disciplinary team approach to providing practical solution for our clients relating to, inter alia, facilitation of contract negotiations, statutory enquiries, corporate advice and finding tailored solutions for a variety of commercial and corporate needs.

In her spare time, she looks after her three daughters, (twins + one) as well as being a coffee barista.

Grant Nelson

Grant is an experienced Mining Lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience in the mining industry across diverse legal disciplines. Grant was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1994. He specialises in commercial law, intellectual property law and community relations.

He has held various Legal Management positions at both Johannesburg Investment Company Ltd and Anglo American. Grant implemented and managed the Global Intellectual Policy and Strategy portfolio for Anglo American.

Grant’s other areas of expertise include surface rights, resolution of restitution claims, the securing and protecting of intellectual property rights, commercial risk management, and general litigation.

He has developed a cost-effective solution, in the form of a bespoke Mining Rehabilitation Guarantee, that meets the financial provision requirements for environmental rehabilitation for mining companies, in compliance with the Regulations published under the National Environmental Management Act. The key benefits of this product are – (i) it meets all of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’ requirements, (ii) it is a tax-deductible investment, (iii) the full value guarantee from inceptions and (iii) a cost-effective solution.

Outside of the office, Grant enjoys nature and conservation, farming, fly-fishing, fly-tying, and cycling.

Richard du Toit

Richard is a senior human resource professional with solid international experience. He was the former Group Director: Human Resources, Operations and Services at a major construction company where he was responsible for all human resources operations and services across the entire company including construction, engineering (South Africa and the Middle East), manufacturing, Intertoll Road Toll Concessions (South Africa and Eastern Europe) and was overseeing and managing 16000 employees.

He has a BCom degree in Industrial Psychology and Business Economics. He furthered his education by obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Management at Henley University (UK) and has further completed the following programmes – Advanced Labour Law Programme, Development Programme in Labour Relations, Foundations of Executive Coaching, Corporate Executive Board (HR Executive Development Programme) and Management and Leadership Development courses.

Richard’s international exposure is a huge asset to Inmiso as we are expanding our service offering into Africa. He worked on projects situated in Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Nigeria, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia as well as on projects in the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia). Apart from his broad human resources expertise, Richard also specialises in collective- and individual labour law, chairing disciplinary enquiries, strike management, policy development and implementation.

In his spare time Richard enjoys the outdoors, running and golf.

Liandra Taljaard

Liandra hold a B Juris and LLB degrees and obtained her MPhil degree in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She also has a Maters degree in Environmental Management (Cum Laude) and practiced as an Advocate for several years before deciding to use her skills in Environmental Management for Multinational Companies. She has more than 22 years of experience and offers a strong base of hands-on environmental legal compliance, advising across the domains of various heavy and light industries. Being a meticulous person, she has extensive experience in the facilitation of various compliance processes often conducted concurrently with different Government Authorities and various other external stakeholders.

Her drive is to enhance the client’s economic development and promote sustainable development by ensuring the rapid execution of statutory provisions and the rendering of legal services in an easy and accessible manner to obtain and maintain our clients’ Licence to Operate.

She enjoys all kind of outdoor sports as well socialising with friends and family.

Jaco du Toit

Before joining the Inmiso team, Jaco was a Principal Project Engineer with his focus on the design and construction of Renewable Energy projects. After a dabble in Quantity Surveying, he obtained a BSc degree in Construction management from the University of Pretoria.

Jaco has worked on 8 Utility Scale Renewable Energy Projects in South Africa and gained valuable experience in Botswana, Namibia, Kenya and Oman over the past 9 years.

His mission is to create and manage motivated impactful teams where everyone plays to their strengths to achieve project targets and client expectations to become Renewable Energy Industry Leaders. Core expertise include Project Management (Bid proposals, Design, Program Management, Financial Management, and Client Liaison.) Construction Management of Contractors, Logistics, CAPEX, Supplier negotiations, management and problem solving.

In his free time, Jaco is a seasoned off-road motorcycle rider, plays golf and enjoys time with his family

Neels Hoek

Neels’s ethos is to find simple and practical solutions to complex processes. He has a proven track record in engagements with the mining industry, communities, regulators, and Government entities. He has the expertise to optimize the delivery of our client’s projects and work with other technical experts in our team that are best suited for the project at hand. He has both advisory and In-House experience in the mining industry. He was the Head of the Mineral Rights Division of Aquaries Platinum (SA) and Sibanye-Stillwater Limited, responsible for managing the South African Mineral Rights and Property portfolios. Having been Head of Administration and Systems in the Mineral Regulation Branch with 17 years’ experience in the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, South Africa. Neels has an excellent knowledge of Government processes, which include Mineral Laws Administration, Mine Economics, Socio Economic development, The Ming Charter and Environmental matters.

He holds a LLB degree and has advanced his knowledge by completing the Presidential Strategic Leadership Development Programme and has a certificate in Mineral Laws and Administration and Environmental Management.

Some of his focus areas include the Review of Mineral Rights Portfolios and Due Diligence reports on the Mineral Petroleum Resource Development Act Statutory Compliance, Preparation and lodgement of Prospecting and Mining Right Applications as well as renewal Applications. In addition, he provides advice, preparation, lodgement of statutory applications such as the transfer of cession of rights applications, Amendment of Rights Application, Appeals and Surface Development Application. As part of the Inmiso team, Neels assists with Mining Law compliance Auditing.

A family man who likes to travel and read, Neels is a solution finder from a practical perspective.

Alan Flower

Alan is a seasoned mining lawyer specialising in mining commercial law, company law and mine and occupational health and safety law. As part of the Inmiso team, his goal is not only to provide sound, accurate and efficient legal advice to our clients but also general legal commercial support outside of the boundaries of traditional law firm services.

Alan has more than 30 years’ experience in legal practice including 20 years as an In-House Counsel in a large global Mining House. As such Alan understand the business and commercial needs of our clients and tailor his legal advice accordingly, which differentiates Inmiso from other law firms. In Alan’s words ‘’ In my view the needs of the client are the most important and we apply our skills so that we can deliver advanced, professional effective, and most of all, practical solutions for our clients’’.

Alan has in-depth expertise in all aspects of South African mining law, commercial law including mergers, disposals, and acquisitions, establishing and terminating joint ventures, all aspects of company law and company secretarial practice. As part of the Inmiso team, Alan also assists our clients with negotiating, drafting, and executing complex commercial agreements across a wide spectrum of business activities. Alan ran the in-house legal project management of the unbundling of South32 from BHP Billiton as well as playing a key role in the Black Economic Empowerment transaction between South32 Energy Coal and Phembani Group.

Alan is a brilliant golfer and enjoys reading, family time and creative thinking to find practical solution for our mining clients.

Tjaart van der Walt

Tjaart was admitted as an Attorney in 2012 and obtained his LLB degree from the University of Pretoria. In 2013 he obtained a Certificate in Advanced Labour Law (Cum Laude) from the University of Pretoria (CE@UP) and he also holds a Diploma in Computer Programming.

Tjaart was previously employed by Exigent Group Limited where he was seconded as a dedicated resource for a major international mining company’s in-house Legal Department. Tjaart has an excellent understanding of the intricacies associated with the mining industry and the legislation governing this diverse field.

Tjaart has gained extensive experience in the mining industry, inter alia:

  • Support in-house counsel with complex legal matters and projects;
  • Alternative dispute resolution;
  • Streamlining of internal processes;
  • Policy and template development;
  • Creation and maintenance of various regulatory registers;
